Flying for a photographer post ppl
19 Jun 2009I’d been spending a lot of time up at the airport as it was so close to my university, where I was now working too, and I’d often head up there in my lunch break. Because I was such a regular and doing a degree in web development, I knew they were looking to have the website re-done and so offered my services in exchange for some discounted flying - great deal for me!
Through university, I’d also met a number of students doing photography courses, and had arranged with the flying school to have one of them come in to take some promo photos of the school and aircraft, which could be used in both their marketing and on the website.
I came along with them, to escort them when they were airside taking photos, and they were able to get some great shots of the aircraft that were on the ground.
G-BSTO had been doing circuits that morning, and they had managed to get a couple of really nice shots of it as it was climbing away, but G-BHZH had no bookings that day, and was sat there doing nothing. So I took it up with an instructor for two circuits to get some practise in, and also so that a similar shot could be taken of it.
A slightly unusual day, but quite an interesting one and the photos that came back from it were great, the flying schools owner was very happy with them.
