Solo Nav Ex PPL

25 Oct 2005

I took off and followed the south east coast down to start point, flying over burgh island again where there were lots of people flying their kites. Once I reached start point I flew out over the sea a little bit and flew north alongside Torcross and Slapton sands, which looked really good because the sun was shining on the water but I don’t have any photos from this flight as I forgot to take the camera with me.

When I came back to land the approach was really good but I think the wind dropped as I was flaring because it suddenly dropped onto the runway hit quite hard and bounced about 3 times, it was the first time I had bounced a plane and it wasn’t very nice, but it wasn’t ‘end of the world’ because the landing gear is designed to take these kinds of landings, and was absolutely fine - it probably felt worse to me than it actually was.
