Lesson 5 PPL

06 Jun 2004

In this lesson it started off the same as in the previous lessons, starting up the engine & doing the pre-flight checks before entering the runway but this time I actually did the takeoff myself, as well as, for the first time, speaking on the radio, talking to the control tower requesting takeoff permission.

We flew out to burgh island again as it’s an area away from the airport and built-up areas, so not many people to annoy by flying in the same area constantly. I was practising in this one, lots of different turns (shallow, medium, climbing and descending turns)

On the way back to the airport, I flew back over the china clay pits, descended to 1000ft and then flew the approach back onto runway 13, replied to the control tower when they said “lizard 1 golf cleared to land” and then landed the plane myself, and taxied back to the grass parking area.
